Tony Dungy, the first African American coach to win the NFL Super Bowl, said Saturday that healing for a deeply divided US “has to start with those of us who claim to be Christian.” In a Twitter post about the police killing of George Floyd and the widespread protests and rioting that followed, Dungy said Christians “can’t be silent.” Most important, Dungy said, is for Christians to follow the Apostle Paul in his exhortation: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Journalists Covering US Riots Attacked by Both Protestors and Police

There have been numerous reports of journalists suffering attacks from both protestors and police while covering US riots sparked by the police killing of George Floyd. According to Reuters, there have been some two dozen attacks on members of the press by police. Documenting some 60 cases of attacks, arrests, or harassment of journalists, Radio Television Digital News Association reported many of the recorded incidents were by protestors as well.

Governors of 23 States Activate National Guard to Help With Rioting


The governors of 23 American states and the District of Columbia have activated 17,000 National Guard soldiers to help manage ongoing rioting in cities across the country, the Washington Examiner reported Monday. The US has been devastated by extreme – including deadly – violence, looting, and destruction of property since unarmed African American George Floyd was killed at the hands of Minneapolis police on May 25.

Protestors in Europe and other countries have joined demonstrators in the United States to express outrage over the death of George Floyd. The unarmed black man died in the U.S. city of Minneapolis after a white police officer pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck until he stopped breathing.

Trump: US Will Designate Antifa as Domestic Terrorists

Declaring on Saturday that the Antifa movement is responsible for recent widespread violence and rioting in America, President Trump announced the US will designate the organization as terrorists, Fox News reports. A loose affiliation of groups based mostly in left-wing US cities, Antifa is a far-left militant movement whose protest tactics against those it considers fascist, racist, or far-right-wing include threats, property destruction, physical violence, and harassment.

US Law Enforcement Officers Join Protests Against Police Brutality

Even as rioting continued across the US this weekend, police squads were seen joining with peaceful protests against the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis on May 25, Forbes reported. Especially poignantly for some, police officers were seen and photographed kneeling in solidarity with protestors and the anti-racism movement.

Violent Protests in Minneapolis for Third Night

Rioters caused chaos in Minneapolis for a third night, following the death of African American George Floyd, who died shortly after his arrest on Monday. Floyd was arrested for allegedly using a forged $20 banknote at a grocery store and died after white arresting officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for several minutes while he was handcuffed and face down on the road. Graphic videos of the arrest were filmed by bystanders and were widely circulated. Chauvin was taken into custody on Friday and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter by the State Bureau of Apprehension. Further charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Christian Families in India Threatened with Death if They do not Reconvert to Animism

Sixteen Christian families from a church in India’s Jharkhand were physically threatened every night for nearly three weeks by gangs of animist worshippers demanding they reconvert to the Sarna religion, Morning Star News reported on May 26. The families (around 130 people) have ancestral connections to the religion, whose followers worship a god called Dharmes.
