NY Gov. tells Facebook to stop “spread of misinformation” about abortion

Governor of New York Kathy Hochul (D) sent a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Monday, in which she urged him to curb the “spread of misinformation” about abortion laws and procedures on his social media platform, the Hill reports. Replacing Andrew Cuomo as NY Governor last month, Hochul said in her letter that many Facebook posts receiving high levels of engagement “purposefully inflate or misrepresent public health data” on abortion.

Appeals court upholds block on Tennessee “heartbeat” law

A federal appeals court on Friday upheld a lower court ruling which blocked a Tennessee law banning abortion at the detection of a “fetal heartbeat,” usually around six weeks gestation, Axios reports. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the block in the wake of Texas’ recent controversial law which bans abortion after six weeks.
