George’s connection to journalism began in childhood. His father worked for The Baltimore Sun, where George himself became one of the paper’s top salesmen in his teens before continuing in the newspaper industry with the Frederick News-Post. Growing up in the media world gave him an inside view of the industry, and at the birth of the internet age, he pioneered Worthy News as an early digital news platform.
His career also includes working as a political consultant for the Christian Coalition in Washington, D.C., where he gained firsthand knowledge of the inner workings of U.S. politics and policy-making. Combined with more than two decades of residence in Israel, this gives George a rare dual perspective on both Washington and Jerusalem. From his base in the Holy Land — where he lives with his wife and two children — George has reported extensively on Middle Eastern affairs, U.S.–Israel relations, and international geopolitics.

In addition to his journalistic work, George has served as a pastor for over 20 years and has been in full-time ministry for more than 25 years. His deep love for the Word of God has given him profound insight into biblical prophecy and its relevance to current events. Committed to addressing the root causes of the issues he covers, George provides truth-based reporting that helps readers see the deeper spiritual and geopolitical dynamics at play.

George also writes under the pen name Emmitt Barry. The name “Emmitt” comes from the Hebrew for “truth,” while “Barry” is from the Hebrew for “healthy,” together meaning “the truth is healthy.” As Emmitt Barry, he focuses on government, politics, and international affairs, with an emphasis on fast-moving geopolitical events. His reporting spans Europe, the Middle East, and North America, delivering fact-driven analysis on political developments, budget debates, and immigration policy.
Whether reporting under his name or as Emmitt Barry, George Whitten brings an uncommon blend of lifelong media experience, pastoral insight, political understanding, and global perspective — delivering truth with both accuracy and purpose.
