(Worthy News) – The European Union imposed sanctions on seven Iranian officials and entities, including airlines, for supplying ballistic missiles and drones to Russia for use against Ukraine in its invasion.

EU foreign ministers approved sanctions on seven entities, including Iran Air, and seven individuals, such as deputy defense minister Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari and top Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp officials.

Britain, France, Germany, and the United States imposed similar sanctions last month over Iran’s missile transfers to Russia.

“Today’s designation includes individuals and entities responsible for the development and transfer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles, and related technology to Russia in support of its war of aggression against Ukraine, and to armed groups and entities undermining peace and security in the Middle East and the Red Sea region,” the EU stated on October 14.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the sanctions, stating, “More is needed.” She added on X, “The Iranian regime’s support to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is unacceptable and must stop.”

According to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, dozens of Russian military personnel have undergone training in Iran to operate the Fath-360 missile, a short-range ballistic missile with a range of 120 kilometers.

This missile, known for its precision and mobility, adds to Russia’s growing arsenal of advanced weaponry, further deepening the military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow. Blinken’s statement highlights the ongoing partnership between the two nations, as Iran continues to play a critical role in supporting Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine.
