Turkey’s Erdogan Called on Muslim Leaders to Unite to Deal with Israel’s Expansionism

(Worthy News) – Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene an emergency summit to discuss the Gaza war and Israel’s actions in Jerusalem. He also called for Islamic nations to unite against what he described as Israel’s “expansionism.”
After a cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan stated that Israel’s targeting of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem was part of its “expansionist” agenda. He emphasized that Jerusalem and the mosque, referred to by Jews as the Temple Mount, represent a “red line” for Turkey.
President Erdogan he called for the OIC, which represents 57 member states and acts as the collective voice of the Muslim world, to convene at the leadership level to address the situation in Jerusalem. He stated that it is “unthinkable” for the OIC, charged with advocating for Jerusalem, to remain indifferent to these attacks.
“The only step that will stop Israeli arrogance, Israeli banditry, and Israeli terrorism is an alliance of Islamic countries,” Erdogan stated.
Erdogan announced plans for Turkey to bring Israel before the International Court of Justice in The Hague concerning the death of Turkish-American Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who died at a West Bank protest over the weekend.
Erdogan stated, “We will take every legal step for her blood not to remain on the ground,” and added, “The genocide-committing Israeli leadership will absolutely be held accountable for the crimes it has committed.”
This announcement follows another announcement by Erdogan in August when he stated his legal team would submit a petition to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
In July, Erdogan warned that Turkey, a NATO member, might invade Israel.
Last week, Erdogan met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to enhance relations and concentrate on the Palestinian conflict. This was the first visit between leaders from Turkey and Egypt in roughly 12 years.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz responded on social media, criticizing Erdogan for fostering hatred and violence among the Turkish public for the sake of his Hamas allies. Katz dismissed Erdogan’s claims of an Israeli plan to invade Turkey as unfounded, accusing him of inflaming the situation. He defended Israel’s actions as necessary for protecting its borders and citizens from threats, including Hamas and the Shia axis led by Iran. Katz suggested that Erdogan, whom he linked with the Muslim Brotherhood and destabilizing efforts in the Middle East, should remain silent and feel ashamed.
