(Worthy News) – On July 14, Chinese and Russian naval forces launched a joint exercise at a military port in southern China, according to the Chinese official news agency Xinhua. This development followed shortly after NATO allies characterized Beijing as a “decisive enabler” of the conflict in Ukraine.

Last Wednesday, NATO accused China of being “a decisive enabler of Russia’s war against Ukraine” in its Washington Summit declaration, demanding an end to its support for Moscow’s military efforts.

Published ahead of a White House dinner last week with alliance leaders, the declaration—NATO’s first of this kind—asserted that China had significantly supplied weapon components and defense equipment to Russia since the war began and called for an immediate cessation of all material and political support to Russia’s war effort.

China responded to NATO’s recent accusations by labeling them “prejudice, smears, and provocation” and criticized NATO for its “Cold War mentality” and “belligerent rhetoric.”

Nevertheless, China’s Defense Ministry stated that the recent joint patrols by forces from China and Russia in the western and northern Pacific Ocean were routine and unrelated to any international or regional situations, nor did they target any third party.

The Chinese-Russian naval exercise, which commenced in Guangdong province on Sunday and will continue until mid-July, aims to enhance the navies’ abilities to handle security threats and uphold global and regional peace, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported.

Last Thursday, Taiwan reported that China sent a record number of warplanes across a U.S.-defined boundary in the Taiwan Strait amid escalating military tensions in the region. The Ministry of National Defense in Taipei detected 66 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and 7 People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels operating around Taiwan.

At the same time, China and Belarus initiated joint military exercises on July 11 near Poland’s border, aligning with NATO’s 75th anniversary summit. Officially called “Eagle Assault,” these drills, dubbed “Assault USA” by critics, are scheduled to conclude on July 19.
