Uganda: IS-Affiliated Terrorists Attack Christian Community, Hack Woman to Death, Kidnap Man
by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) incorporated into Islamic State are believed to have carried out an attack on a Christian community in western Uganda last week, in which they hacked a woman to death with an ax, severely injured her nephew, and kidnapped another man, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.
ADF is an Islamic jihadist terror group that was founded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and was incorporated into the broader Islamic State conglomerate in 2020.
On Dec. 7, suspected ADF terrorists raided Ngoko Village in western Uganda’s Kasese District at around 9 pm, ICC reports. They murdered Betty Biira, a 35-year-old resident of Ngoko and wounded her 13-year-old nephew, John Masereka. Local resident, 50-year-old Aston Agaba, was abducted.
“Though we have lost one person and whereas we do not know where Aston is, we thank the almighty God that 13-year-old boy survived the attack after escaping from the hands of the rebels but was severely injured with axes on the forehead and skull,” Kayo Joseph, the Ngoko Village chairperson, told ICC.
“They hacked my aunt to death using an ax and machetes,” Joseph recounted. “It was a group of about five men who were also demanding phones and food. They started cutting my aunt. After killing her, they turned to me; they were well-armed with guns and other items like axes and knives.” Joseph added: In my heart, I was praying to Jesus to save me,” Joseph said. “I sustained several cuts, but the Lord helped me to flee. I was rescued by good Samaritans who took me to the hospital.”
The Dec. 7 attack comes just months after ADF terrorists stormed a school in Kasese district on Jun. 16 and slaughtered 40 students, ICC notes.
