Hamas accuses UNRWA of collusion with Israel as Gaza civilians use evacuation corridors
by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – Enraged that civilians are using humanitarian corridors opened by the Israeli military to evacuate to the southern part of the Gaza Strip, the Hamas Palestinian terror group has accused the United Nations of “colluding with Israel” in the “forced displacement” of Palestinians by encouraging them to use the evacuation routes, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.
Hamas declared war on Israel when it conducted a surprise brutal attack on Israeli civilians on Oct. 7. Israel has responded with a massive air strike campaign and a ground operation targeting Hamas infrastructure, which is purposefully embedded within civilian areas.
While Israel has spent weeks warning and urging Gaza civilians to leave the north of the Strip, where Hamas has a strong network, the terror group has ordered residents to stay put; reports have circulated that Hamas has even used deadly force to block civilians from leaving.
The IDF opened a second humanitarian corridor on Wednesday, and thousands of Gaza civilians were again seen to use it, TOI reports. Indeed, the opening hours for the corridor were extended, given the number of people coming to use it. Calling on remaining Gazans to join the “hundreds of thousands” who have already moved south, IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee said in a statement on X: “The northern Gaza Strip area is a fierce combat zone, and time is running out to evacuate it.”
Railing at UNRWA, the United Nations agency that supports Palestinians, said in a statement: “UNRWA and its officials bear responsibility for this humanitarian catastrophe, in particular, the residents of the Gaza [City] area and north of it” [who are moving along IDF-arranged displacement routes to flee south], TOI reports.
