(Worthy News) – Amid the ongoing assault on Israeli citizens by the Hamas jihadist terror group in Gaza, Israel saw shelling from Syria as well on Tuesday, the Jerusalem Post reports. The Iran-backed Lebanese terror group, Hezbollah, has bases in Syria as well as southern Lebanon, from which it, too, attacks Israel.

Shortly after the report that shelling had begun from Syria, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Tuesday evening that its forces responded with artillery fire and mortar shells, targeting the site from which the first attack originated, JPost said.

The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights, a London-based opposition war monitor, reported in a statement that the shelling was carried out by Palestinian groups affiliated with Hezbollah, JPost said.
Sirens were triggered in the border communities of Metzuva, Betzet, Shlomi, Hanita, Achziv, and Liman in the western Galilee area, JPost reports. No injuries or damage was reported, although a rocket is understood to have landed in Shlomi.

“There were also several infiltration alerts in West Bank settlements, along with instances of stone-throwing and firebomb attacks targeting cars with Israeli license plates on West Bank roads,” JPost said in its report.

“These incidents, following the deadly Hamas attack, may indicate that Israel could be facing a multifaceted conflict across various fronts.”
