WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – The world’s biggest and most powerful rocket exploded Thursday just minutes after SpaceX launched it from its path in the U.S. State of Texas.

The two pieces of the spacecraft failed to separate as planned. Within 239 seconds, its flight was over as the combined rocket exploded in the air, leaving a dramatic cloud in the sky, footage showed.

Elon Musk’s company aimed to send the nearly 400-foot (120-meter) Starship rocket on a round-the-world trip from the southern tip of Texas, near the Mexican border.

It carried no people or satellites; the booster and spacecraft on top were to be ditched into the sea.

Crowds of spectators watched from South Padre Island, several miles away from the Boca Chica Beach launch site, which was off-limits, witnesses said.

SpaceX’s first try to launch the rocket was called off Monday due to a stuck valve in the rocket during fueling, officials said.

The company pledged to learn from the test and that “success comes from what we learn.”

“As if the flight test was not exciting enough, Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation,” it said, referring to the blast.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX made clear it would not abandon its vision to see Starship one day carrying up to 100 people on long-duration interplanetary flights.

It will also enable the delivery of satellites and the development of a moon base, and point-to-point transport on Earth – enabling travel to anywhere in the world in one hour or less.
