(Worthy News) – Advocacy and aid organization International Christian Concern (ICC) has shared that it has begun supporting a local specialty nurse in Indonesia who shares the Gospel with the patients she cares for in their homes.

In a statement, ICC President Jeff King said supporting nurse Irene (her name is withheld for her safety) is a part of the ministry’s efforts to build up the church in countries that are very dangerous for Christians. “We recently provided supplies for a specialty nurse in Indonesia who travels to patients’ homes to bring them care,” King said.

“Through her work, she is able to share the gospel with her patients while providing them with medical support. In a predominantly Muslim region where locals may otherwise never hear the Good News, the Lord is moving!” King explained.

For her part, Irene responded with a message to ICC: “I thank God for His grace for me. He answered my longing to serve through my training. I can now freely do this outreach. I share the Good News every time I meet a patient.”

According to Open Doors USA, persecution of Christians in India has intensified in recent years. “There were three attacks on Christians within a six-month period between 2020 and 2021, killing eight believers, while Indonesian society has taken on a more conservative Islamic character, putting added pressure on Christians,” Open Doors said in a website statement.

Predominantly Muslim Indonesia is hostile ground for Christianity, and ranks 28 on the US Open Doors Watch List 2022 of top 50 countries.
