(Worthy News) – US officials suspect a massive hacking operation that hit numerous government agencies and has been linked to Russia breached networks tied to the country’s nuclear weapons stockpile, Politico reported Thursday.
Officials with knowledge of the matter said systems of the US Energy Department and National Nuclear Security Administration were hit in the attack.
It was not immediately clear whether the hackers had been able to access any data on those networks, and if so, what information had leaked. The report said suspicious activities were found in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Sandia and Los Alamos national laboratories, the Office of Secure Transportation and the Richland Field Office of the Energy Department.
