Iran Warns Israel After Nuclear Facility Blast And Fire
By Stefan J. Bos, Special Correspondent Worthy News
(Worthy News) – Iran has warned Israel and other “foes” against “hostile actions” after an explosion and fire damaged the Natanz nuclear complex.
Tehran said there were no casualties or radioactive pollution in Thursday’s reported incident in central Iran at one of the country’s main uranium enrichment plants.
However, Iranian state news agency IRNA stressed that “if there are signs of hostile countries crossing Iran’s red lines in any way, especially the Zionist regime (Israel) and the United States, Iran’s strategy to confront the new situation must be fundamentally reconsidered.”
Israel had accused Iran of developing nuclear weapons, though Tehran claimed its plants are used for “peaceful purposes.” IRNA cited Israeli social media as saying that the Jewish state was responsible for the nuclear “sabotage attempts.”
However, the “Homeland Cheetahs” group claimed responsibility for the accident.
The group reportedly said it consists of “dissidents present in Iran’s security apparatuses.” They added that Natanz facility was targeted as it was not “underground,” and therefore, the alleged attack could not be denied by Iran’s Islamic leadership.
Iran’s nuclear body has yet to explain the cause of the accident.
