(Worthy News) – Many churches are experiencing a revival in Tennessee as part of a prayer and fasting initiative begun by one church near Rogersville, TN in the eastern part of the state, as the pastor who launched it continues to express hope that the move of God’s Spirit will spread repentance across the nation.

Pastor John Butler of the East Rogersville Baptist Church began “Awaken Tennessee” to propel God’s people in the volunteer state to 30 days of prayer and fasting, and has so far seen “Baptists, Methodists, non-denominational churches as well as Pentecostal and Charismatic churches involved.”

“Every service for the planned conference was filled with God’s presence,” Butler said of the month-long event, which began on Jan. 26 and will conclude Feb. 23. “People were getting serious about dealing with personal sin and people were coming to Christ for salvation. Thirty-year feuds were made right, relationships have been restored, and many masks had been removed. People made public confessions of sin, bitterness, and laziness about their involvement in God’s kingdom activity.”

So far 1,000 churches in Tennessee have signed on to pray and fast for a revival that Butler hopes will “spread rapidly across our state and nation,” with “wave after wave of people” having been “broken before the Lord” already.
