Lebanon protests become openly anti-Iranian

(Worthy News) – A critical fault line between Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah and Lebanese protestors was exposed Sunday night.

5 people were injured as Hezbollah supporters clubbed largely Christian protestors who had blocked a main Beirut bridge, chanting pro-Shi’ite slogans in response to protestors’ “Hezbollah is a terrorist” and “this is Lebanon, not Iran.”

Compared with the 340 people who have been killed by security forces in Iraq since protests began there in early October, the 7 people who have died in Lebanon’s anti-government demonstrations have seemed a relatively minor toll.

Demonstrations in both countries have been tinged with anti-Iran sentiment, as the Islamic Republic is widely seen as reaching its tentacles into the halls of power in Lebanon and Iraq through its Shi’ite proxy armies.

Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Hossein Salami in a speech in Tehran Monday directly accused the US and its allies Israel and Saudi Arabi of fueling protests in his own country in which 143 people have been killed over a rise in fuel prices, saying the Islamic Republic would “destroy” them if they crossed its “red line.”
