US to Pull Troops from Syria Within 2 Months, Informs Israel of Exit Plan

(Worthy News) – The United States plans to begin a phased withdrawal of its troops from Syria within two months, U.S. defense officials told their Israeli counterparts, according to Ynet.
A senior Israeli official told the outlet that Jerusalem expects only a partial U.S. withdrawal but is still urging Washington to maintain its military presence in Syria.
“This is not our war,” Trump has repeatedly stated, as the Pentagon moves into the operational phase of the Syria withdrawal.
As of December, the U.S. had about 2,000 troops in Syria. Trump’s team had openly discussed pulling them out even before his return to office.
Washington has kept Israeli defense officials regularly informed, but Israel has raised strong concerns over the planned withdrawal.
Israel believes a U.S. withdrawal will embolden Turkey to expand its control in Syria, likely escalating tensions between Jerusalem and Ankara, the official said.
