Trump Says Iran Will ‘Be Held Responsible’ For Future Houthis Attacks

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump on Monday warned Iran that it will “be held responsible” for future attacks from the militant terrorist group, the Houthis.
Trump authorized airstrikes over the weekend on Houthis, the Iranian-backed group which has been terrorizing ships in and around the Red Sea for months, launching missiles at them and effectively shutting down one of the world’s most important trade corridors.
The Yemen-based Houthis reportedly responded to Trump’s airstrikes over the weekend by attempting to fire on the USS Harry Truman, an aircraft carrier that President Joe Biden sent to the region last year to help secure the situation.
Since 2023, Houthis have been targeting ships from all kinds of nations, including the U.S., forcing them to avoid the normally busy trade passageway. The Houthis had stopped the attacks as part of a ceasefire at the start of this year, but they recently announced plans to resume the attacks.
“Let nobody be fooled!” Trump said in a statement. “The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN. Any further attack or retaliation by the ‘Houthis’ will be met with great force, and there is no guarantee that that force will stop there. Iran has played ‘the innocent victim’ of rogue terrorists from which they’ve lost control, but they haven’t lost control. They’re dictating every move, giving them the weapons, supplying them with money and highly sophisticated Military equipment, and even, so-called, ‘Intelligence.’”
Iran is a known backer of terror groups in the region, including the Houthis as well as Hamas, the group that attacked Israel on Oct. 7 of 2023, and Hezbollah, which has been firing on northern Israel for months, forcing Israelis to evacuate.
Iran has defended itself, saying the Houthis make their own decisions. However, an Iranian general threatened to respond strongly against the U.S. after the air strikes against the Houthis over the weekend.
The State Department designated the Houthi rebels a terrorist group earlier this month.
“Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward,” Trump said, “as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!”
