Netanyahu Says Trump See ‘Eye-to-Eye’ on Iranian Threats After Multiple Conversations

(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Sunday, after multiple phone calls with newly elected President-Elect Donald Trump, that they “see eye-to-eye on the Iranian threat in all its aspects.”
“In recent days, I have spoken three times with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump,” revealed the Israeli prime minister in written remarks released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday afternoon.
Netanyahu described the discussions as “very good and important talks” aimed to “further enhance the steadfast bond” with Washington.
“We see eye-to-eye on the Iranian threat in all its aspects, and on the dangers they reflect. We also see the great opportunities facing Israel, in the area of peace and its expansion, and in other areas,” Netanyahu stated.
President-elect Donald Trump plans to sharply escalate sanctions on Iran and curtail its oil exports to undermine its support for violent Middle East proxies and nuclear activities, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
During his first term, Trump withdrew from the six-nation Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action aimed at limiting Iran’s nuclear capabilities and implemented a “maximum pressure” strategy. This strategy aimed to compel Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions, and to cease supporting and training terrorist organizations.
When Trump assumes office on January 20, his Iran policy is expected also to be influenced by a recently revealed Iranian plot to assassinate him and his former national-security aides, as disclosed by the FBI and the Justice Department on Friday.
A senior Israeli official told Axios that Netanyahu is dispatching Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer to Mar-a-Lago this week.
