BUDAPEST/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called Donald J. Trump’s victory in the presidential elections a new beginning.

“Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!” wrote Netanyahu on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Under the previous presidency of Trump, the U.S. embassy moved to Jerusalem while the Abraham Accords on Arab–Israeli normalization was signed between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and between Israel and Bahrain.

Netanyahu made clear that he hoped to intensify relations with the U.S. under Trump. “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”

Those words resonated with Hungary’s rightwing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, one of Trump’s most outspoken supporters in the European Union.

“I see a spectacular victory, perhaps the greatest comeback in Western political history, a huge fight,” Orbán said about the outcome of the presidential elections.

Speaking about Trump, Orbán said that the Republican politician had overcome possible prison, confiscation of his assets, and assassination attempts while “the whole media world of the U.S. turned against him.

US ENCOURAGEMENT

Yet “he has still won,” Orbán stressed in a video message seen by Worthy News.

He said Trump’s struggles gave “a great encouragement to everyone” who believes in will, struggle and perseverance, and a hope for peace for the world.”

Orbán said he hoped Trump would help end the Russia-Ukraine war. Orbán added that “there is now a great chance” that “pro-peace forces become a majority in the Western world by the end of the year.”

He said these forces “would defeat the pro-war camp” and now had a “great chance” of achieving that.

He hoped this attitude would help improve Hungary’s economy and cause US-Hungary relations “to return to their golden era.”

“We have several plans that we can carry out together with President Trump in the coming years,” Orbán said.

Other European leaders, ranging from the recently elected secretary-general of the NATO military alliance, Mark Rutte, to European Union leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, said they looked forward to working with Trump.

They mentioned strengthening the transatlantic alliance, which has a combined population of some 800 million people.
