(Worthy News) – Warning Iran’s Islamic jihadist regime that it made “a big mistake” when, days before the first anniversary of the October 7 massacre by Hamas, it launched some 200 ballistic missiles at Israel last week, the Israeli government has announced it is preparing “serious and significant” response to the Iranian assault.
Some 24 Iranian missiles penetrated Israeli air defenses and landed in Israel near at least three military and intelligence sites during the October 1st attack, the Washington Post reported. One Palestinian was man was killed and around 100 homes were damaged by the barrage.
Israel is weighing its options for a response to Iran while still fighting Iranian jihadist proxies Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. “Iran made a big mistake – and it will pay for it,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement. “Whoever attacks us, we will attack them,” Netanyahu asserted.
Affirming Israel’s right to defend itself against Iran’s aggression, the US said it was working with the Israelis to come up with an appropriate response. There are already divergent views on what that response might be.
Former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett, for example, has publicly urged Netanyahu to “destroy [Iran’s] nuclear project, destroy their major energy facilities and critically hit this terrorist regime.”
However, US President Joe Biden has stated he is against the idea of targeting Iran’s nuclear and oil sites, asserting Israel’s response must be “proportionate.” The president added that he and other G7 leaders are preparing a new round of sanctions on Iran.
