Iran Vehemently Rejects Western Calls For It Not to Attack Israel

(Worthy News) – Iran’s Islamic regime on Tuesday denounced as “impudent” Western calls for it not to attack Israel in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last month, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.
Israel has not confirmed or denied its involvement in the killing of Haniyeh on July 31, but Iran holds Israel responsible; Israel has been bracing for an Iranian attack in the wake of Tehran’s threats of retaliation.
Calling for de-escalation of the extremely volatile situation in the Middle East, France, Germany, and Britain on Monday issued a statement calling on Tehran and its proxies, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, to refrain from seeking revenge against the Jewish state.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani retorted in a statement of response: “Without any objection to the crimes of the Zionist regime, the E3 statement impudently requires Iran not to respond to a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Kanaani then called on France, Germany, and Britain to “once and for all stand up against the war in Gaza and the warmongering of Israel,” TOI reports.
On Monday night Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a statement that Iran has “the right to respond” to any aggression, TOI reports. “While emphasizing diplomatic solutions to issues, Iran will never give in to pressure, to sanctions, and to bullying, and considers it has the right to respond to aggressors in accordance with international norms,” Pezeshkian said.
