(Worthy News) – Two illegal Jordanian migrants who were charged with illegally entering the Marine Corps Base in Quantico in May were released from federal custody after posting bail, according to the NY Post.
According to law enforcement sources cited by The Post, Hasan Yousef Hamdan, 32, and Mohammad Khair Dabous, 28, were released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention despite their illegal immigration status.
Hamdan illegally entered the country in April, while Dabous overstayed his student visa and is currently facing removal proceedings.
They were detained on May 3 for trespassing onto the military installation and subsequently transferred to ICE custody due to their immigration statuses.
According to federal law enforcement sources, both men posted bond in their ICE cases — $15,000 for Hamdan and $10,000 for Dabous—and were released in early June.
Hamdan and Dabous faced misdemeanor charges of trespassing on military property and made their initial court appearance on July 22. According to court documents first reported by Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies, they were ordered released under conditions that require them to attend their immigration proceedings and prohibit them from approaching Quantico or any other military bases.
Quantico hosts several key facilities including the FBI Academy and FBI Laboratory, a Defense Intelligence Agency facility, and major US Marine Corps commands, one of which operates the Marine One presidential helicopter.
