BLM Blasts Democrats For Being ‘Hypocrites’ By Appointing Kamala Without A ‘Public Voting Process’

(Worthy News)—The far-left activist group Black Lives Matter is criticizing Democrats for designating Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s likely presidential nominee without allowing voters to participate in the decision. They state that doing so “would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites.”  They are urging the Democratic National Convention “to create a process that allows for public participation in the nomination process, not just a nomination by party delegates.”

Black Lives Matter (BLM) has issued a statement on its website urging the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to hold an informal, virtual snap primary across the country before the DNC convention in August. [PDF copy of Statement issued by BLM]

The far-left activist organization called on the DNC to “protect the integrity of our democracy and the voices of Black voters.”

BLM has criticized the Democratic Party for several troubling actions. Despite Joe Biden not being their preferred candidate, the DNC did not host debates during the primary despite widespread voter demand, which might have exposed Biden’s decline in 2023. They also accused the DNC of altering the primary schedule and setting rules that limited ballot access for non-Biden candidates, effectively removing any challengers to the incumbent president. Moreover, BLM stated that after the primary—in which millions of Black voters participated—the DNC elites and billionaire donors pressured Biden to exit the race following one weak debate performance.

BLM has accused Democratic Party elites and billionaire donors of attempting to manipulate Black voters by appointing Kamala Harris and an unnamed vice president as the new Democratic ticket without a public primary vote.

“This blatant disregard for democratic principles is unacceptable,” BLM stated.

While BLM stated that a Harris presidency could be historic, the process leading to it must adhere to genuine democratic values.

BLM has voiced criticism against the Democratic Party, highlighting that while the party often declares “democracy is on the ballot” to motivate Black voters for the general election and labels it as crucial for democracy, the principle of democracy needs protection not just from Republican challenges but also from deteriorations within the Democratic Party itself.

BLM stated that calls for “unity” should not undermine democratic principles. BLM said that the Democratic Party, often vocal in defending democracy, now appears ready to engage in undemocratic tactics, ignoring voter preferences to push their agenda.

BLM concluded that “installing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and an unknown vice president without any public voting process would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites.”

BLM is calling for a transparent and fair virtual snap primary to ensure a democratic nomination selection.
