(Worthy News) -Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has announced that Israel does not want another war but is capable of sending Lebanon “back to the Stone Age” if Hezbollah, the powerful Lebanese Islamist terror organization, provokes a full-scale conflict by continuing to attack northern Israel, i24News reports.

Backed by Iran, which seeks the destruction of Israel, Hezbollah has joined Hamas’ war against the Jewish state by firing thousands of rockets from positions in southern Lebanon at Israeli towns, including Tiberias in the Galilee. Some 60,000 northern Israelis have been evacuated from their homes due to Hezbollah activity since the Oct. 7 Hamas invasion and attack on Israel.

After this week’s four-day visit to the US where he met with Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Washington, Gallant said in a press statement that Hezbollah’s continued belligerence on Israel’s northern border is intolerable and must be addressed diplomatically or, if necessary, militarily.

Gallant emphasized that Israel is keen to work with the US and others to ensure a diplomatic solution to the Hezbollah crisis but that Israel is ready to take military action. “We do not want war, but we are preparing for every scenario,” Gallant told reporters.

Warning that Israel can send the entire country of Lebanon “back to the Stone Age,” Gallant added: “Hezbollah understands very well that we can inflict massive damage in Lebanon if a war is launched.”
