(Worthy News) – The US-based Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is set to hand out 200,000 Bibles during Christ-focused summer camps around the world this year, the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) reports.

With a worldwide outreach, FCA has been “challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ” since its founding in 1954.

During the summer months of June, July, and August, FCA hosts summer camps aimed at helping coaches and athletes enjoy a strong relationship with Christ, CBN reports. Part of this ministry involves the distribution of Bibles to everyone who attends.

“There are camps happening at this moment, where athletes are hearing about the love of Jesus, possibly for the first time,” FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson told CBN. “This is why we do what we do, and we pray for God’s presence to be life-changing at all of our camps across the world this year.”

Telling CBN of his experience at an FCA camp, athlete Adrian Williams-Strong said: “Right after college, I was a Huddle Leader (FCA Camp), and that was one of the best experiences of my life. One thing I brought back from camp was a quiet time. We would have it every day. It was like a listening time trying to hear from God, and ever since then, I have been doing that.”

The theme for this year’s FCA summer camps centers on the Scripture on Romans 15:13: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit,” CBN said.
