(Worthy News) – Some 120,000 protestors took to the streets of Tel Aviv in Israel on Saturday calling for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign and for the government to strike a deal with Hamas that would secure the release of the 128 hostages still captive in Gaza. the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.

The hostages at the center of Saturday evening’s protest were taken during the since the genocidal attack by Hamas against Israeli civilians on Oct. 7 last year.

Israel has been at war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip since the massacre: declaring the necessity of keeping Israel safe from Hamas’ ongoing threats against Israel, Netanyahu has sworn “total victory” against the Palestinian jihadist terror group, and has not yielded to widespread calls for a ceasefire. While the IDF has been destroying Hamas’ infrastructure, the hostages remain captive, to the fury and grief of many Israelis.

The largest of many such protests since Oct. 7, Saturday’s protest in Tel Aviv’s Democracy Square resulted in clashes between police and protesters that left 14 officers injured. Addressing the crowd in the square, Shaul Meridor, former head of the Finance Ministry’s budget department, said: “A step away from a victory that will never come, we’re surrounded by enemies, the whole world’s against us.”

In a statement, protest leader and entrepreneur Moshe Redman told TOI that the demonstrations would continue: “All the protest organizations, alongside additional civil organizations and businesses, are going to begin a continuous, daily protest in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Caesarea and additional places. The protest will include mass daily demonstrations, disruptions to the government’s activities, strikes and more.”
