US House Demands Biden Delivers Bombs To Israel

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – The U.S. House of Representatives delivered a bipartisan rebuke of Joe Biden’s pledge to withhold certain heavy bombs from Israel amid its ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Thursday’s bill, passed by 224-187, compels the White House to resume an arms shipment and quickly deliver those weapons, in what critics said was “a largely symbolic vote” engineered by the Republicans to divide Democrats ahead of upcoming presidential elections.
Sixteen Democrats supported the measure, highlighting sharp differences among Democrats over the issue.
Biden’s pause on shipments of heavy bombs to Israel’s conservative government caused tensions among Democrats, with staunchly pro-Israel members opposing the president’s move.
Yet the bill wasn’t likely to pass in the Senate, and Biden has pledged to veto it.
Thursday’s bill was remarkable as it came shortly after the Biden administration reportedly told Congress that it intends to move forward with a plan for the United States to sell more than $1 billion in new weapons to Israel.
The notification of the sale, which would include new tactical vehicles and ammunition, comes as Biden tries to strike a balance between criticizing Israel’s conduct in Gaza and supporting a longtime ally and the only functioning democracy in the Middle East.
It’s the first weapons shipment to Israel to be pushed ahead since the administration put another arms transfer, consisting of 3,500 bombs of up to 2,000 pounds each, on hold this month.
Biden made clear, however, that Israel has the right to defend itself
