Hezbollah Fires Massive Rocket Barrage On Northern Israel Day After Biden Envoy Arrived in Lebanon

(Worthy News) – Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Lebanese terrorist organization, fired a massive barrage of rockets at the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona on Tuesday evening after a White House senior adviser visited Beirut in a diplomatic effort to cease hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that around 30 rockets targeted Kiryat Shmona, with the Iron Dome air defense system successfully intercepting at least 10 of these projectiles.
Hezbollah acknowledged responsibility for the rocket barrage, stating it was retaliation for an IDF attack on the village of Houla in southern Lebanon.
On Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant conveyed to Amos Hochstein, the United States special envoy to the region, that the ongoing attacks by Hezbollah on Israel were inching the Jewish State towards making a decision about undertaking military operations in Lebanon.
“We are committed to the diplomatic process. However, Hezbollah’s aggression is bringing us closer to a critical point in the decision-making regarding our military activities in Lebanon,” Gallant said, according to a statement provided by his office.
Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, disclosed on Tuesday that indirect talks to halt the hostilities along the Lebanese-Israeli border are set to begin during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, starting next week. He revealed to the local broadcaster Al Jadeed that Lebanese officials are currently reviewing a verbal proposal from Hochstein, who was in Beirut on Monday, promoting a diplomatic solution to the ongoing clashes between Hezbollah and Israel.
The conflict with Lebanon has intensified over the recent weeks, with Israeli strikes hitting targets deeper within Lebanon in recent days. Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, Hezbollah has engaged in exchanges of fire with Israeli forces along the border on a near daily basis.
Hezbollah has reported that 233 of its members have been killed by Israel amid the current clashes, primarily in Lebanon, with some fatalities also occurring in Syria.
