(Worthy News) – A young Christian film director in the United States has made a pioneering new documentary that gives a wide-ranging perspective on worldwide evangelism and the thriving condition of Christianity around the world, the Christian Post (CP) reports.

Titled “Multiplied,” the documentary is directed by 24-year-old Chris Worthington, who also founded the Christian film production company Every Nation Will Bow. “Multiplied” will be in US theaters through Fathom Events May 20-21 this year.

The film follows Worthington as he travels across Brazil, Ghana, and Nigeria to document evangelism and the expression of Christianity in very different parts of the world. “I watched Billy Graham so much after I got saved that I felt like I knew him,” Worthington told The Christian Post in explaining his motives for making the film. “So when he passed away, the power of his life and legacy really hit me. And then I thought to myself, ‘Well, with him gone, what does the future of evangelism look like?”

Amid escalating reports of intensifying Christian persecution in Africa and Asia and of deepening secularity in the West, Worthington told The Christian Post that he hoped his film would encourage viewers to know that Christianity is thriving despite problems in the surrounding culture.

“Christianity is exploding, especially in Africa,” Worthington said. “I saw it for myself and got it all on camera. It’s about showing the reality that it’s not just about a few famous evangelists [such as Reinhard Bonnke, who died recently] anymore but about an entire generation preaching the Gospel. It’s about you and me; it’s about the normal person. I think that’s how Jesus wanted it from the beginning.”

Worthington explained that film can be a vital tool in modern evangelism: “I think that a Christian film Renaissance is happening right now.” However, Worthington emphasized that movies based on Christianity mean nothing unless they direct viewers to Jesus. “All of these films that I make, it’s just an endeavor to point people to Jesus Christ. If it’s not doing that, it’s all in vain,” he said.
