“After School Satan Clubs” Are No Match for After School “Good News Clubs”
by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – While The Satanic Temple organization has made headlines by establishing After School Satan Clubs in a number of public schools in America, the US-based Child Evangelism Fellowship has announced that its Good News Clubs are flourishing to such extent the ministry hopes to reach 30.4 million more children worldwide this year alone, CBN News reports.
The Satanic Temple (TST) claims to be a secular organization that is working to “ensure that plurality and true religious liberty are respected.” As such, it has entered the arena of after school clubs particularly in order to counter the Christian groups, especially the Good News Clubs run by Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF).
CEF on the other hand, was founded in 1937 with a mission to “evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.” The ministry has established Good News Clubs around the world, including in Australia, Cambodia, Congo, Ethiopia, and Ghana.
TST is able to operate because the US Supreme Court ruled in 2001 that public school districts must allow both secular and religious groups to access their facilities. TST makes a point of teaching children that Satan is their “pal,” that he is “not evil” and he just wants kids to “have fun” and “be themselves.”
Warning of the dangers of The Satanic Temple’s activities, CEF Executive Vice President Moises Esteves noted in a recent press release: “Teaching children that there is no ultimate right or wrong or a God who loves them sets them up to be exploited by those with evil intentions. We pray that parents will see the truth and send their kids to a Good News Club.”
Indeed, the publicity generated by TST has actually propelled parents to seek out the Good News Clubs instead, Esteves said. ” Satan cannot create anything but trouble, and this is a prime example,” Esteves explained. “The devil promoters think they’re clever, but they don’t have a prayer when it comes to persuading parents to choose them for their children over CEF’s Gospel-sharing clubs.”
