Israel Claims 2,000 Hamas Terrorists Killed in December, 8,000 Overall; Lebanon Border Heats Up

(Worthy News) – As the war continues into its 3rd month in Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claims that it has eliminated 8,000 Hamas terrorists and 2,000 since the beginning of October, IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said.
During its ongoing ground offensive in the Gaza Strip, the IDF has reported significant progress. The 36th Division has accomplished its mission of dismantling Hamas’ terror capabilities in the Shejaia neighborhood of Gaza City. Following this, the 99th Division, having completed its operations in the southern part of Gaza City, is now expanding its activities to the central regions of the Gaza Strip.
“We have increased the number of troops fighting in east Khan Younis, and we are fighting there with determination, with five infantry brigades, and combat engineers, with an emphasis on the underground fighting,” Hagari said.
Hezbollah Continues to Threaten Israel
Israel has repeatedly warned that it will take action if the international community’s diplomatic efforts do not succeed in moving Hezbollah forces from its border. This warning comes amid rising tensions with Hezbollah and Israel’s steps to create a buffer zone along the Lebanese border for the protection of its citizens.
“Hezbollah has turned southern Lebanon into a combat zone and continues to endanger the future of the entire state of Lebanon for Hamas and Iran,” Hagari stated.
“We will continue to work to distance Hezbollah from the border,” Hagari added.
In the past 24 hours, an anti-tank missile attack from Lebanon has injured two Israeli civilians in the northern town of Dovev. Simultaneously, another missile seems to have struck vehicles in the adjacent community of Avivim.
On Thursday afternoon, the IDF announced it had launched a series of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon in response to the attacks on northern Israel. The strikes, executed by fighter jets, tanks, and artillery, hit various Hezbollah locations, including rocket launch sites, military buildings, and other infrastructures. Additionally, the IDF shelled multiple areas along the border using artillery, likely as a preemptive measure to thwart further attacks from Hezbollah.
