More Than 80% of US Christians Favor a Two-State Solution to Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, Poll Shows

(Worthy News) – A new poll by Lifeway Research shows that four out of five US Christians support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in which a new state of Palestine is created alongside Israel, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The poll was conducted with 1,200 Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox Christians in the US between Nov. 14-21, as the war between Israel and Hamas was triggered when some 3,000 Hamas jihadists carried out a genocidal attack against mostly civilian Israelis on Oct. 7.
The Lifeway survey found that 81% of US Christians believe in a two-state solution, JPost reports. Notably, the report found that Christians formed their views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by following media reports rather than by studying the Bible: 56% of respondents said the media influenced their opinions about Israel, compared to 27% who said the Bible influenced them.
Concerning the ongoing war, 42% of Christians said they want an immediate, complete ceasefire, JPost said. Just 53% are in agreement with Israel’s goal of subduing Hamas. A further 15% said they would like Israel to have long-term security control over Hamas and Gaza.
Regarding the Oct. 7 genocidal massacre of around 1,200 Israelis of all ages and the kidnapping of around 240 more, including women, elderly, and children, 31% of American Christians said the Gaza Palestinians were responsible for it. However, 39% of the respondents said the Oct. 7 attack was a natural response to being mistreated by Israel.
