(Worthy News) – Before the outbreak of war on October 7, the Biden administration had plans to establish a two-state solution. These steps were intended to facilitate the establishment of a Palestinian state, a key element in the potential agreement for the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

“So we think if you want to see lasting peace, which is our goal and we hope is everyone’s goal, including everyone who voted for that resolution, you need to see Hamas removed from authority in Gaza and governance established in Gaza that reflects the legitimate hopes and aspirations of the Palestinian people and that can eventually lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,”  U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated on Wednesday.

Miller described the events leading up to the Simchat Torah War.  He disclosed that U.S. Secretary of State Blinken had planned visits to Saudi Arabia and Israel that were intended to discuss integration and normalization between the two nations. A crucial part of these discussions was the introduction of a comprehensive package of measures directed towards establishing an independent Palestinian state.

“We had planned and put on the table a robust package of steps towards an independent Palestinian state. So, it has not just been our policy. It is something we were actively working towards in the leadup to October 7th,” Miller continued.

The Biden administration has emphasized the importance of initiating a new peace process following the Gaza war. This initiative aims to achieve a two-state solution to the conflict, involving the establishment of a Palestinian state that includes territories in both Gaza and the West Bank.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday that he was not prepared to repeat the mistakes of the Oslo Accords again, which called for a two-state solution.  He stated that Gaza will not become “Hamastan” or “Fatahstan.”

Israeli Ambassador to the UK Rejects Two-State Solution

In an interview with Sky News on Wednesday, Tzipi Hotovely, the Israeli Ambassador to the UK, dismissed the idea of a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She argued that the Palestinian goal is to establish a singular state that extends ‘from the river to the sea.’

Hotovely expressed that the world should acknowledge the failure of the Oslo paradigm since October 7 and the need for a new approach. Upon being questioned about the creation of a Palestinian state in the current environment, she firmly responded with a definitive ‘absolutely no.’
