France, Germany, and Italy Call for EU Sanctions on Hamas
by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – The foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Italy have jointly written a letter to European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, urging the prompt implementation of special sanctions targeting Hamas and its supporters in response to the Middle East crisis.
The letter emphasizes the necessity for the EU to implement “all necessary measures against the terrorist group Hamas and its supporters.”
The ministers urged the EU to counter Hamas’ infrastructure and financial support while committing to isolate and delegitimize the group internationally.
While striving to delegitimize Hamas globally, they also emphasized that Hamas does not represent the Palestinians or their “legitimate aspirations.”
Hamas is currently designated as a terrorist organization in the European Union, resulting in the freezing of any funds or assets it holds within the EU.
The letter suggests that the special sanctions might include a potential travel ban to Europe for individuals associated with Hamas.
The ministers said the letter sent a “strong political message” about the EU’s commitment against Hamas.
