U.S. Navy Warship Shoots Down Iranian-Drone Launched from Yemen
by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – Earlier today, a U.S. Navy Destroyer intercepted and shot down an Iranian-made drone launched by Houthis from Yemen. The drone, directed toward the warship, was successfully shot down over the Red Sea, according to the U.S. Central command.
The USS Carney, a Navy destroyer, considered the drone—an Iranian-made KAS-04—a threat. The drone was shot down over water in the southern Red Sea as the ship was heading towards the strait.
During the morning interception, the Carney was providing escort duties for the USNS Supply, a Military Sealift Command fast combat supply ship, along with another U.S. flagged and crewed ship transporting military equipment to the region. The incident resulted in no injuries to U.S. personnel, and there was no damage to the ships, according to a CentCom statement posted on X.
