Hezbollah Launches Intense Rocket and Anti-Tank Strikes on Israel Ahead of Ceasefire
by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – On Thursday, Hezbollah unleashed a substantial rocket barrage on northern Israel, marking one of the most extensive attacks from Lebanon since October 7, just hours before a ceasefire was to go into effect.
In a midday assault, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) reported around 35 rockets crossing from Lebanon into Israel. Hezbollah claimed responsibility, stating they had launched 48 rockets at an army base near Safed. By mid-afternoon, at least 80 rockets, missiles, and mortars were fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel.
In retaliation, the IDF utilized aircraft and Iron Sting-guided mortars to target the rocket launchers. Subsequently, fighter jets and attack helicopters carried out airstrikes on “terrorist infrastructure” and rocket launch sites in Lebanon, in response to the continued attacks.
Twice this week, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has condemned Hezbollah’s persistent attacks on Israel. On Tuesday, he addressed the UN Security Council and emphasized the imperative of disarming and removing Hezbollah from southern Lebanon to prevent an escalation of the ongoing conflict. Cohen reiterated similar sentiments in discussions with foreign journalists on Wednesday.
Hezbollah declared on Wednesday its intention to partake in the upcoming four-day truce set to commence in Gaza on Friday despite not being involved in the negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
