(Worthy News) – The Minnesota Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit on Wednesday that attempted to prevent former President Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 primary ballot, citing a constitutional provision that disqualifies individuals who have “participated in insurrection” from holding office.

Although the state’s highest court rejected the challenge to Trump’s inclusion on the primary ballot, it informed the plaintiffs that they could make another attempt to prevent him from appearing on the 2024 general election ballot if he secures the GOP nomination.

The plaintiffs sought to make the case that Trump was ineligible to seek the presidency based on the 14th Amendment due to his alleged incitement of an “insurrection” against the United States.

Several cases are currently under consideration in various states filed by liberal groups.

In Colorado, a state judge has set closing arguments for the following week on a similar case.

These lawsuits seek to employ Section Three of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution that states:

No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and VicePresident, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of
each House, remove such disability
