JERUSALEM/BEIRUT (Worthy News) – Several Iran-backed militias known as the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” have launched a “medium-range missile” to strike against U.S. troops on bases around Iraq and Syria, Worthy News learned Tuesday.
The group said its Al-Aqsa 1 medium-range missile was already in service and launched toward the “U.S. occupation’s bases in Iraq and Syria.”
They stressed that the missile was fired “In the context of responding to the Zionist occupation’s crimes in its aggression on Gaza under U.S. diktats and administration.”
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq added that for the first time, it puts into service the medium-range Al-Aqsa 1, which was launched at U.S. occupation bases in Iraq and Syria in some of its operations. Allah’s Will always prevails,” the statement explained.
The missile looks to be precision-guided from the fins on the front section. An analysis of the dimensions in a photo “shows that the missile bears similarities with Iran’s Fath-360 missile,” said Al Mayadeen, the Beirut-based broadcaster and news site.
The new weapon has a range of 120 kilometers and can carry a warhead of 150 kilograms, according to experts.
The announcement comes weeks after U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration allowed sanctions on Iran’s suspected nuclear missile program to expire. It was also adding to worries in Israel that Iran will have more tools available for its crusade to destroy the Jewish nation.
ISLAMIC RESISTANCE
In published remarks, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that its “Resistance fighters” used the new weapon in attacks against four American “occupation bases” in Iraq and Syria in six separate attacks.
The “U.S. occupation’s ” Ain al-Assad base in Western Iraq was attacked three times, with another attack targeting the “U.S. occupation’s” command near the Erbil International Airport, the group added.
“The U.S. occupation’s” Tel Bider base in northern Syria and its Al-Tanf bases in southern Syria “were the subjects of the remainder of the attacks,” they explained.
Referring to Israel, the group warned it has been “responding to the Zionist occupation’s crimes in its aggression on Gaza under U.S. diktats and administration,” the Islamic Resistance stressed.
It said its new missiles launched at “U.S. occupation bases in Iraq and Syria in some of its operations. Allah’s Will always prevails,” the statement added.
The missile looks to be precision-guided from the fins on the front section. An analysis of the dimensions apparent in photos shows that the rocket bears similarities with Iran’s Fath-360 missile, with a range of 120 kilometers (75 miles) and a warhead of 150 kilograms.
Yet an Al Mayadeen reporter said he witnessed a kamikaze drone targeting the U.S. base north of Al-Hasakah in northeast Syria. Israel has warned its enemies that its army will be able to fight on several fronts to defend the Jewish nation after the October 7 Hamas attacks killed 1,400 people while hundreds were kidnapped.
