(Worthy News) – Israel has ceased its practice of alerting Russian forces in Syria in advance of its airstrikes in the region. This decision comes amid a deteriorating relationship between Moscow and Jerusalem, according to Bloomberg on Friday.

The Israel Defense Forces did not notify Russia in advance of an airstrike on October 30 that targeted a military facility in Daraa, located in southwestern Syria. Likewise, there was no prior communication when Israeli fighter jets attacked a Syrian base housing Hezbollah militants five days before, Bloomberg reported.

In recent years, Israel has undertaken a series of airstrikes, targeting hundreds of locations within Syria, as part of its ongoing efforts to counter the threat of Iranian terrorism, which poses a significant challenge to regional stability.

In the complex geopolitical landscape of Syria, where the armed forces of the Russian Federation hold a prominent international role, Israeli military cooperation with Moscow has become essential. To avert potential conflicts within Syrian territory, Israel and Russia established and upheld a deconfliction mechanism, ensuring a degree of coordination in their respective activities.

However, the diplomatic relations between Israel and Russia have faced growing strains in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, Vasily Nebenzya, the Russian United Nations representative, stated during a General Assembly special session on the Israel-Hamas war that Israel does not have the right to defend itself.

On October 26, Israel criticized Russia for hosting a delegation of Hamas members in Moscow, denouncing it as “an act of support for terrorism.”
