Iran facilitated drone/rocket attacks on US bases in Mideast last week

(Worthy News) – The Biden administration announced Monday that Iran actively facilitated a number of rocket and drone attacks by Iranian-backed proxy groups on US military bases in Iraq and Syria in the last week, Reuters reports.
White House spokesman John Kirby said the US believed the attacks had been sponsored by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) and the Iranian government, and that the US would not be ignoring them, Reuters reports.
“We know that Iran is closely monitoring these events, and in some cases, actively facilitating these attacks and spurring on others who may want to exploit the conflict for their own good, or for that of Iran,” Kirby said. “We know Iran’s goal is to maintain some level of deniability here, but we’re not going to allow them to do that. We also are not going to allow any threat to our interests in the region to go unchallenged.”
“We are deeply concerned about the potential for any significant escalation of these attacks in the days ahead,” Kirby added.
While such attacks have been carried out against US bases before now, there has been a spike in their number since the massacre of 1,400 Israeli civilians by the Hamas Palestinian terror group on October 7.
