Israel’s Ground Invasion Of Gaza Imminent, Minister Suggests, But Doubts Remain

JERUSALEM/GAZA (Worthy News) – Israel’s defense minister suggested Thursday that an invasion of Gaza was imminent, telling troops, “You will soon see Gaza from the inside.”
Yoav Gallant told Israeli soldiers, “You see Gaza now from a distance; you will soon see it from inside. The command will come.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also visited troops Thursday, telling them the Jewish nation will “win with all our might.”
Tanks, helicopter gunships, and troops were massing on the border, while another cabinet minister said the military had been given the “green light” to invade when ready.
Yet the announcements came despite doubts as U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters on his flight back to Washington that the American and Israeli militaries are discussing alternatives for a full invasion of Gaza.
Since Hamas militants killed some 1,400 people in Israel and kidnapped more than 200 others on October 7, thousands of Israelis were mobilized.
Yet Biden raised doubts when asked about the prospect of a large-scale ground assault by the roughly 300,000-strong Israeli force along the border.
“We had a long talk about that and what alternatives there are. Our military is talking with their military about the alternatives,” he replied but declined to give details.
His comments came shortly after a spokesperson for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), Luitenant Colonel Richard Hecht, cast doubts about a ground invasion
“We are preparing for the next stages of war,” Hecht told media. “We haven’t said what it will be. Everyone is talking about a ground offensive, but maybe it will be something different.”
