JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel on Wednesday walked back from a warning that many “hostile aircraft” had entered the Jewish nation’s airspace from Lebanon, but rockets landed elsewhere. Alert systems showed several red warnings in northern Israel while sirens sounded in every town.

But the Israeli Air Force said: “Further to reports of airspace intrusion from Lebanese territory into Israeli territory, so far no crashes have been detected in Israeli territory, and no casualties have been reported.” The spokesperson added that Israel Defense Force (IDF) “forces are scanning the area from the ground and the air.”

On Wednesday, the IDF alerted the nation to unconfirmed reports of invading drones and paragliders. Giora Zaltz, a community leader in northern Israel, said: “This is what we feared, what we were preparing for.” However, an IDF spokesperson suggested that air raid alerts may have malfunctioned.

Yet on Wednesday, waves of rockets rained down on the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon from Gaza, with shrapnel slamming into the street, reporters said. Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted at least one overhead. Tuesday night, Israeli troops stopped militant incursion into Ashkelon, killing three, the military said.

Concerns also remain about the militant Hezbollah group, which has been firing at Israel from Lebanon.
