(Worthy News) – Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Mohammad Reza Ashtiani stated Wednesday that bilateral relations between Russia and Iran have developed to reach an unprecedented new level of cooperation and understanding, the Interfax news agency reports.
Ashtiani made his remarks during a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Tehran.
“Our relations in the fields of defense and security have attained unprecedented development over the past decade, ” Ashtiani told Shoigu during the meeting. “Your visit and the signing of the memorandum of mutual understanding signifies a brand new period in our bilateral relations,” Ashtiani told Shoigu during the meeting. “Our relations are also marked by support from leaders of both countries and guarantee security and stability in the region.”
While Western powers consider Iran to be ruled by a dangerous, rogue Islamic regime which backs prolific terrorist activity around the world, Ashtiani went on to assert that Tehran and Moscow are engaged in a “joint war” on terrorism.
“Russia and Iran have significantly broadened the range of their cooperation over the past few years,” Ashtiani said. “In particular, I would like to note regional affairs, such as the joint war on terrorism and extremism.”
“I have no doubt that our cooperation will lead to peace and stability on the world stage,” Ashtiani said.
