BEIRUT, LEBANON (Worthy News)– Two Lebanese channels one of which is linked to Hezbollah stopped broadcasting an Iranian-made television series depicting the life of Jesus after receiving complaints from Christians.
Al-Manar and NBN television selected the series to run during Ramadan, but “decided to stop airing it … to prevent any attempt to use it in a negative way.”
The series “sheds light on the great personality of God’s prophet Eissa Bin Mariam (Jesus, son of Mary) and his divine message which reflects with all glorification and lordliness through his life, his suffering, his passion and sacrifices,” both stations stated in a joint release.
Although revered as a prophet, Muslims don’t believe Jesus is the Son of God who was crucified, died and buried only to be resurrected.
As the “seal of the prophets,” Mohammed’s bones still lie buried in Medina.
Bishop Bechara Rai, president of the Episcopal Commission for Mass Media in Lebanon, said Christians objected to “distorted” events in the Lebanese TV series.
Rai told Reuters that, “We have noticed that the events that we briefly saw in the 17 episodes given to us from the two stations … were fully wrong, or partially wrong, or distorted and were inconsistent with the Bible recognized by the Church.”
“It also denies the divinity of Christ … and there is no resurrection.”
