(Worthy News) – Amid heightened tensions on Israel’s border with Lebanon, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah announced Monday that Israel will “cease to exist” if a new conflict between the Israeli military and the Iran-backed Lebanese terror group should ignite, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.

An arch-enemy of Israel, Nasrallah issued his statement during a televised speech marking 17 years since the end of the Second Lebanon War, TOI reports. According to Nasrallah, the Israel Defense Forces have “weakened” since their “defeat” in Lebanon in 2006.

“After 17 years of attempts, preparation, and development, the Israelis have been unable to restore the image of the Israeli army,” Nasrallah said. Referencing last week’s warning by Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant that Lebanon would be “returned to the stone age” if Hezbollah starts a war, Nasrallah added: “You too will be returned back to the stone age.”

Nasrallah went on to threaten that Hezbollah would utilize “a few high-precision missiles” to destroy Israeli targets, including “civilian and military airports, airbases, power stations… and the Dimona [nuclear] reactor.”

In what Israel considers to be a provocation, Hezbollah recently erected two tents on the Israeli side of the United Nations-recognized Blue Line in the Mount Dov area, TOI said. Hezbollah has taken down one of the tents but has threatened to attack Israel if the other is dismantled.
