(Worthy News) – A US-based Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI) has reported that Iran’s Islamic extremist regime is “dramatically” increasing the number of politically motivated executions it carries out, Radio Free Europe (Rferl) reports. Iran executes more people than any other country in the world, Amnesty International has reported separately.

In its report released Monday the CHRI said Iranian authorities have been using capital punishment as a means of inflicting “intimidation and retribution” following the public outcry and nationwide civil unrest triggered by the death in police custody of 22-year old Mahsa Amini who was arrested for not wearing a hijab correctly in Tehran last September.

In a statement, Hadi Ghaemi, executive director of the CHRI, said: “The international community must be clear with Iranian authorities that continuing its killing spree will result in an extraordinary intensification of the Islamic republic’s political and economic isolation. The aim of these unlawful executions is to eradicate dissent and sow fear among the population.”

“Governments and international organizations have a crucial role in exerting pressure on the Iranian government to put a stop to this state-sanctioned murder,” Ghaemi asserted. “Without strong coordinated international action, the world is green-lighting this carnage,” Ghaemi added.

The CHRI report attests that Iran has executed 17 men in “blatantly unlawful” prosecutions over the last 10 months,” Refrl said. Among these, seven were hanged for participating in protests over the death of Mahsa Amin, and at least 10 others were put to death for political “crimes.”
