Special counsel announces charges against Trump over Jan. 6: ‘Unprecedented assault’ on democracy
(Worthy News) – Special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday delivered remarks following the unveiling of a four-count indictment against former President Donald Trump in connection with the events of the Jan. 6, Capitol riot.
Smith’s indictment included four counts, including conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of, and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Trump’s D.C. Judge Worked For Law Firm That Employed Hunter Biden, Lobbied For Burisma
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan of Washington, D.C., the judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s case in the district, previously worked at a law firm that once employed Hunter Biden and worked closely with Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.

Judge in D.C. Trump Case Has Handed Out Long Jan. 6 Sentences
The federal judge assigned to handle the latest court case stemming from the four-count indictment issued against former President Donald Trump on Tuesday is a Barack Obama appointee, and the only federal D.C. judge who has sentenced Jan. 6 defendants to longer sentences than were requested by the government.
Chutkan is no stranger to Trump’s legal situation. She previously denied his plea to withhold records from the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, the Weekly noted. She’s also the same judge who in November 2021 ruled against Trump when he tried to invoke executive privilege to keep his White House papers secret from the Jan. 6 Committee.
