(Worthy News) – St Louis, Missouri saw some 36,000 young Christians flock to town last week to attend the biennial North American Youth Congress hosted by the United Pentecostal Church International ministry, the St Louis Post Dispatch (STL) reports. Focused on ministering to students and young adults, the conference was held between July 26-28 at America’s Center.

Last week’s conference featured a packed schedule of events, including worship and preaching, and breakout sessions for discussions on the challenges young people face in their daily lives, STL reported.

In addition to spiritual activities, conference attendees were set to learn about serving people in need through packing disaster relief supply buckets with personal items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and other hygiene products, along with cleaning supplies such as laundry and dish soap, STL reports.

In the event of a disaster, the Reach Out America nationwide disaster relief agency will coordinate with local churches to distribute the buckets to those affected.

“North American Youth Congress connects students to something bigger than themselves,” UPCI Youth Ministries President Michael Thomas said in a statement. “In a world of increasing loneliness and isolation, this event shows a young person that they are not alone in their journey or their walk with God.”
