KYIV/MOSCOW (Worthy News) – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Sunday that war is returning to Russia after a drone attack on Moscow.

Three Ukrainian drones were downed over the Russian capital, Russia’s defense ministry said, in an attack that briefly shut an international airport.

While one of the drones was shot down on the city’s outskirts, two others were “suppressed by electronic warfare” and smashed into an office complex, Russian authorities said.

A security guard was reportedly injured.

“Ukrainian drones attacked tonight. Facades of two city office towers were slightly damaged,” Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Moscow and its surrounding area are more than 500 kilometers (312 miles) from the Ukrainian border and the armed conflict but have been targeted in several drone attacks this year.

Sunday’s attack followed a series of recent drone assaults – including on the Kremlin and Russian towns near the Ukraine border–that Moscow blamed on Kyiv.

Kyiv was yet to comment, but Ukraine typically declines to claim responsibility for attacks on Russia. The defense ministry called it an “attempted terrorist attack.”

However, in a video address on Sunday from the western Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk, President Zelensky said that Ukraine was getting stronger. “Today is the 522nd day of the so-called ‘Special Military Operation,’ which the Russian leadership thought would last a couple of weeks,” he stressed.

“Gradually, the war is returning to the territory of Russia – to its symbolic centers and military bases, and this is an inevitable, natural, and absolutely fair process,”‘Zelensky warned.
