(Worthy News) – Bringing to mind longstanding, harmful antisemitic narratives, an “alarming” new study has found that Israel has been criticized on the Twitter social media platform around 10 times more than any other country in the world in regard to human rights violations, the Jerusalem Post reports. Posts against Israel included typical antisemitic tropes about Jewish bloodlust, dominance, covert control, and replacement.

The study of over 100 million Twitter posts was carried out by the Ruderman Family Foundation and the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), JPost reports. It was unveiled on July 12 during a Knesset Caucus for Israel-American Jewry Relations.

The study found that, from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022, Israel was referred to negatively 12 times more than China on issues of violating human rights; 38 times more than Iran, 55 more times than Iran and 111 more times than North Korea, JPost said.

In a statement about the findings, Shira Ruderman, Executive Director of the Ruderman Family Foundation, said: “We have identified a clear correlation between social media discourse and its influence in the real world.”

“The fact that Israel is measured differently from other countries in the world, using a double standard, is alarming,” Ruderman said. “This issue crosses political lines and worldviews and is an opportunity for elected officials, from all sides of the political spectrum, to denounce this disturbing phenomenon.”
